President’s Report May 2026

Graeme Martin

Just when we thought we had things nailed down…

The date for the Community launch of the Alphington Community Battery and our Community Energy program has changed to Sunday 21st June, after the Farmers’ Market. That Sunday is the Winter Solstice so it will be a perfect day to celebrate the power of solar created energy. The event will commence at 2.00pm and run to 4.30pm. To find out more about the activities and to register to attend, click here. Tell your friends and neighbours about it too. Jemena will now replace the power pole and transformer outside the market entrance on Saturday 20th June so expect Wingrove Street to be blocked that day.

As Ana explains in her article, we were very excited to run our first Community Energy workshop with round 1 participants. The next workshop will introduce the first version of the Community Energy reports that we are developing with software engineer Dean and our energy market specialist, Allan. The workshop will be held on Tuesday 2nd June. A meeting invitation will be distributed very soon. Please ensure that you have completed the Data Authority form.

If you applied to join the Community Energy program after the 30th April, your application will be assessed for inclusion in round 2. We will close this second round in late June so there is still time for others to apply.

Finally, a call out for someone with accounting skills who would like to volunteer their time. We are looking for a person with experience in MYOB, GST payments and general accounting experience. If that’s you, please contact me at info@villagepower.com.au
