President’s Report June 2026
There is never a dull moment for the VP team.
For pressing reasons we have changed the date of the Launch of the Alphington Community Battery and our Community Energy Program to Saturday 27th June. It is only two weeks away and I am holding my breath as we still have a few issues to resolve. The weather is another factor so please register for the event and in case of any further changes, you will be immediately notified.
The launch will run from 10.30am to 1.00pm. There will be face painting, a kids’ treasure hunt, other activities for them, free scones, cups of tea, and some interesting organisations and businesses sharing information related to better environmental futures. We will be sharing more details about Community Energy, the battery, the artwork and the new School Program. There will also be a coffee van to get your fix. The formal speeches and launch will commence at 11.00am. There is no shelter from the rain so you may like to bring a brolly.
So what else has been happening?
We held the second workshop for Community Energy participants and introduced an early prototype of a report that we are developing with our software engineer Dean. Ana talks more about the workshop in her article.
If you applied to join the Community Energy Program after the 30th April, we have not forgotten you! We will now close this round in mid-July and your application will be assessed for inclusion in round 2.
I am very happy to report that after last month's call out for someone with accounting skills, we have onboarded Steve as our volunteer book-keeper. We are still looking to recruit a Treasurer to join the board, if you know someone who is interested, please contact me. Also, we have an urgent task for a graphic designer for a document.
