President’s Report - May 2025

I am pleased to say that Village Power has selected a new commercial partner to continue on our mission of enabling the community to take action on climate change through the greater use of renewable energy.

VP has now spent over 18 months, and over 1,400 volunteer hours working towards implementation of community-scale battery operating as a battery-as-a-service subscription service with a commercial retail partner. However, we have found through all this effort and twice going out to the energy market that this commercial model is not feasible at this time.

We do believe there is another way to achieve our objectives so I am pleased to announce the 100% Local Renewable Energy (LRE) program.  Our new commercial partner and arrangements will support us to implement the program. Please read the 100% Local Renewable Energy article for more information.

If you would like to hear more details and ask questions about the program, please come along to the next meeting on Tuesday 3rd June. The meeting will be held face-to-face at the Gleeson Room at the Darebin Parklands commencing at 7.30pm. There will also be an online option that will be sent to paid members.
