President’s Report: July 2025

Welcome to the July issue of the Village Power newsletter!

As Graeme flagged in the last issue, he is currently travelling and taking a break from Village Power for a few months, and I’m taking on the role of Acting President in his absence.

While it has not been possible to proceed with a subscription model delivered by an energy retailer, we are continuing to develop a new approach that seeks to link benefits derived from the neighbourhood battery directly with subscribers, without the need for a retailer in between - this is what we are calling 100% Local Renewable Energy (LRE).

We’ve continued to engage with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action who administer the Neighbourhood Battery project, and are hopeful to confirm if the 100% LRE program meets the requirements for continued project funding in the near future. We certainly remain optimistic that it will.

In the meantime, my colleagues in the project delivery team are progressing activities across a number of work streams to ensure we remain on track if we get the green light to keep going.

We hope to bring you positive news shortly. For now, I hope you enjoy the latest edition of the newsletter, and please reach out to us at info@villagepower.com.au if you have any questions or feedback.

Regards,

David Craven
